Show Notes

Join Emily M Morgan as she takes you through her journey of single motherhood by choice. In this episode, discover how Emily adjusted to becoming a single working mother, managing work, home duties, learning how to adjust to child care, and trying to find a way to take back control of her time and money.

Today on Parents in the Know, I’m going to tell you a bit more about my journey as a single parent by choice, in order to help you get to know me better, where I come from and what drives me. I have told you about how I decided to become a single mother by choice and how I conceived my first child using donor sperm. I have also talked about my experience of pregnancy, which was not at all as I had imagined it. Today, I want to show you what it was like for me as a new parent, feeling my way through parenting, working, child care and being single through it all. My Life as a Single Mother, the third part of my parenting journey, today on Parents in the Know.

“Those first two years of my life as a single parent were the most eye-opening, difficult, challenging, wonderful and confusing years of my entire adult life. I became a new version of myself during that time and it has led to a wonderful new chapter, which I look forward to telling you more about. But new beginnings often require a painful start and so it proved in my case. In the next installment of this miniseries on my journey, I will take you through a condition not well known to many but its sufferers: perinatal depression.”

Next week we have another great interview from our series. This time it’s a three way interview with two child care professionals, Sharon Earl a Family Day Carer, and Lyn Woolley, manager of a busy child care centre. I can’t wait to introduce you to these hard working and dedicated educators, so please join me next week for a look at child care, on Parents in the Know.
