Welcome to Parents in the Know and how are you doing today? Whatever stage of the parenting journey you’re on, we’re here to show you you’re not alone. I’m Emily M Morgan and today’s amazing parent is Jody Kalpenos. I can’t wait to share her story with you.
Jody’s parenting journey went from partnered to single parent to two boys. During the following eight years she came to grips with parenting on her own, dealing with the stress, the mess, the loudness and the testosterone that comes with raising boys, and learning how to be a better, calmer, more relaxed person – it’s a continuing journey for her.
Jody’s parenting philosophy encompasses the importance of being mindful and calm, taking a step back when things are spiraling out of control, and trusting your instincts in the face of conflicting information and the cacophony of voices shouting advice.
Please support Jody by leaving a supportive and respectful comment at parentsintheknow.com. You can also support her by visiting her website, www.jodykalpenos.com and checking out her book, Finding Freedom… Finding Me: An Extraordinary Journey Out of Pain and Darkness Into Love and Light
(you can buy it by clicking on the title). Take care, and I’ll see you next week with another amazing and inspiring parent.
PS – we got into a discussion today on co-sleeping and controlled crying. Listen to the podcast episodes on these issues for more information: http://parentresourcecentre.com/podcast-12-controlled-crying/ and http://parentresourcecentre.com/podcast-1-co-sleeping-with-infants/
